Hi! My name is Rachel and I am an admissions counselor at Illinois State University. I am an alumnus of the University and have been working in the Office of Admissions for 2 years. As an admissions counselor, I visit many high schools and community colleges in the state of Illinois and enjoy helping students achieve a smooth transition.
Working in Admissions has given me the opportunity to meet many prospective students. Although my specialty is working with transfer students, I am very well versed to help all prospective students in their transition to Illinois State. My blog will provide you with information about the transfer process and other helpful resources throughout the year. I am happy to be a resource for you during the transfer process, so don’t hesitate to ask me questions!

During the application process when it asked me which courses that I will be taken or have taken, I took 3 classes of a total of nine hours in the fall of 2008, those classes were Eng101, Humanites 101, Communications 101. These three classes were taken in the Fall of 2008 but the form would not allow me to put in 2008 so I put in 2009. I am taking 2 classes for the summer but have not placed them in the application because I would like to check with my advisor first to see which classes would be transferable to ISU. So by the time of admission to ISU I will have a cumulative hours of 24.

Hi, I sent in a transfer application and I wanted to change my major. I was a music major, but now I want to major in early childhood development and minor in music. How do I change my application or do I need to change anything? Thank you.

Hi Tanissa,
Basically, you need to contact the Office of Admissions at (309)438-2181 if you would like to have your major changed. Thanks!

Rachel,
The students that transfer or just apply here are very lucky to have you help them with their transition. You’re upbeat attitude and wiliness to help is electric and contagious. Thank you for the way you represent ISU! You totally ROCK!
