Human Resources Management;  Sociology; Class of 2009

Howdy friends!  The name’s Justin.  I’m finishing up a Human Resources Management major and Sociology minor here at Illinois State.  I’m hoping to study something along the lines of International Human Resources/Labor Relations or Community Development in graduate school.  Time will tell.

There have been many great opportunities provided to me by the school and community here in Normal.  I spend a lot of time  studying, serving, and hanging out with friends in a RSO youth group on campus.  I enjoy challenging, growing and learning with my peers and professors.

Among faculty here, I’ve been struck by how open most of the professors are in taking time getting to know and help me on a personal level.  ISU is a great teaching college because the professors take the time to invest in lives beyond the classroom.

As for my interests:  I love to think, read, listen to and play music, write, pray, discuss, learn how things work, study social problems and travel.  I have a Saviour and keeper, I believe He directs me and I strive to follow hard after Him.  Scientia cum religione, “Religion and knowledge united,” I believe science and knowledge affirm Him.  I love Coldplay, a quick listen to “The Scientist” confirms my thoughts of science and theology.

I try to understand the practical and conceptualize the ideal.  I try to consider humanity on a global scale, yet not forget to act where I’m at while I’m there.  I spent a chunk of the ‘07 summer in Japan and have been blessed with the opportunity to spend time in eight countries.  I worked at a children’s home last summer which I thoroughly enjoyed. I spend time writing and recording music in a little home studio, reading and writing on topics of interest, enjoying a good conversation, seeking truth, sharing the love, growing from mistakes, etc.  ISU has helped me get to know myself better and has provided me a lot of great experience and learning for life.  My faults have been more exposed than ever before and my strengths have been affirmed.  Good stuff.

I’m glad you’re interested in ISU and I hope you enjoy your time on my blog.  Consider this an invitation, please feel free to submit topics of interest that you’d like me to write on, I’d love to share with you!
amor vincit omnia,
Justin
