Schlesser is a member of the Illinois State University College of Business Alumni Hall of Fame.

Corporate image and expectations vs. personal image and lifestyle – What do I need to know? was a topic explored by Illinois State University graduates Shannon Falls CPA ‘00 ACC, senior manager, PricewaterhouseCoopers and John Munie ‘94 BUA, president, Focal Pointe Outdoor Solutions Inc. during a visit to the College of Business.

Lindberg receives Outstanding Educator Award from Illinois CPA Society

The Illinois CPA Society has selected Deborah L. Lindberg, DBA, MBA, CPA as one of three professors receiving the 2009 Outstanding Educator Award. The award recognizes Illinois educators at a community college, college or university who excel in their leadership and teaching, and who have made continuous and outstanding contributions to accounting education in the state.

Lindberg, a Professor in the Department of Accounting at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois joined the faculty in 1997.  She earned a doctorate from Boston University, an MBA from Florida Atlantic University and a BA from the University of Northern Iowa. A member of numerous professional and academic organizations, including Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma, the American Accounting Association and the Institute of Internal Auditors, she has received many honors and awards, among them several Department of Accounting Outstanding Performance Awards for teaching, service and scholarly productivity, and the Arthur H. Winakor Award for the Outstanding Accounting Faculty Member of the Year for both the 1998-99 and 2002-02 academic years.

Lindberg’s research is currently focused on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).  She has published in numerous academic and professional journals, including The International Journal of Accounting, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Issues in Accounting Education, The CPA Journal, Internal Auditor, Today’s CPA, the Journal of Insurance Regulation, and the National Public Accountant.

In the award nomination materials, one of her former students cited Lindberg for the “personal perspective” she shared and another said “her use of practical and realistic examples is what sets her teaching style apart from other professors.”

Jessica Thompson ‘03 (IMC) was recently promoted to Manager of U.S. Communications for McDonald’s USA and is now the official “Tweeter” for McDonald’s new McCafe Your Day campaign. You can follow her at www.twitter.com/mccafeyourday where she’ll be tweeting about McDonald’s McCafe, the McCafe Your Day Contest, and other “fun stuff.”

“This a great opportunity for us to listen, respond and chat with our customers about their experiences with McCafé,” said Thompson. “Our new advertising and communications campaign has been featured in several publications.”

McD’s Launches McCafe With An Accent On The ‘E’  in MediaPost News.

As Manager of U.S. Communications for McDonald’s USA, Thompson oversees the implementation of strategic public relations and communications programs including McCafe, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and various social media initiatives.
Thompson is a founding member and co-chair of McDonald’s Young Professionals Network and is also a member of McDonald’s Women’s Leadership Network. She actively participates in Junior Achievement and was the recipient of McDonald’s prestigious President’s Award in 2007.

Jessica was an Early Career Achievement Award honoree for the Illinois State University College of Business at Homecoming 2008 and recently gathered with other graduates at the College of Business Alumni Network (COBAN) reception on April 30th at the Chicago Marriott.

Outstanding Alumni Achievements Should be Recognized and Celebrated…

The College of Business at Illinois State University is seeking nominations for two alumni awards.

The Alumni Early Career Achievements Award recognizes younger graduates who have already experienced significant success or professional distinction.  The recipients will be honored during Homecoming Celebrations at Illinois State University in October.

The Alumni Hall of Fame Award is given to graduates with significant and sustained history of professional accomplishments and a long-term commitment to generous service to others.  Those selected for induction will be honored during Business Week 2010.

Please note… those receiving the College of Business Service Hall of Fame Award are recommended by the College of Business Leadership Team.  It is our way of recognizing individuals for their longstanding dedication to the College and its mission.
