Tailgating–Saturday, October 15 at noon

Saturday, October 15, 2011
Noon-3 p.m.

A celebrated tradition at Illinois State – we hope you’ll join us as we celebrate Homecoming by tailgating!

View a listing of tailgating events.

Download a map of the Redbird Tent Zone location assignments.

The public tailgate lots allowing consumption of alcohol will include G-83, F-64, G-73, G-81, F-83, U-91, F-71, F-61, and G-53. Tailgating lots F-83, G-83 and G-73 are general public pay lots, and will open at 7 a.m. on game day.

Any cars left in those lots from midnight until 7 a.m. on game day will be relocated and may be ticketed or towed.

The charge for a car/tailgate space is $10 per game and $20 per RV.

Pay lots will close when all tickets are sold. RVs will be directed to the RV parking area on the north end of the G-82 lot. RVs not in the G-82 lot three hours before game time will be redirected to the G-93 lot. No overnight parking is allowed for RVs.

Lots F-62 and G-82 will allow consumption of alcohol and be restricted to Weisbecker Scholarship Fund parking passes. The track infield and surrounding fields are options for approved and scheduled athletic department tailgate activities. Functions with alcohol possession and consumption are restricted to those 21 years of age and older. Signage will be visible in public tailgate lots designating tailgate rules and policies.

Additional details on tailgating policies can be found online.

Download a copy of the Homecoming Map to see designated tailgating locations, or take a look at the campus map for specific lot locations.

Do I need to request a parking spot to tailgate or is it first come first serve?

Parking spaces are first come, first served. Lots open at 7 am and will fill up fast!!

    Two part question:
If I have my student hold a parking space for us, will we be allowed to switch out the cars if we arrive by 8:00a.m.? or…can we set up a small canopy to reserve the spot?

Unfortunately no….once the lot is full, they won’t let any additional cars into the lot. Nor will they let you “save” spots. Sorry!

If we tailgate in the main lot on Saturday outside of the stadium and are drinking, and can not move our car because of the drinking after the game, can we just keep our car there till Sunday?

      John,

You will need to notify a parking attendant or police officer, and they will help you determine an appropriate and safe course of action for your vehicle.

I know the lots open at 7 am to get a spot, but then on the guidelines it says that tailgating doesn’t start until noon. Are we allowed to hang out in the lots before then? Also, can we just get a spot and then leave our car for a few hours?

Meg — yes on both accounts. Have a great Homecoming!

If you bring your car what time does it have to be out of the lot?

As soon as the game is over. If you are unable to dirve, contact a University Police Officer or on-site Parking Attendant, and they will assist you.

If no one is able to drive the tailgate vehicle home, what kind of assistance can we given my U Police?

I would encourage you to plant to celebrate responsibly. However, if you need assistance, the University Police will help those unable to manage themselves to the best of their ability.

Is the College of Education Tailgating open to Alumni/Family? Or just current Education majors?
