Brad Wilhelm February 29, 2012

Brad ’98 and Monica Wilhelm, of Manteno, IL, son Ryan Charles, Sept. 18, welcomed by brother Robert, 2. Brad is a cost accountant for Silliker Laboratories in Chicago. Monica is currently a stay-at-home mom.

Deb (Starbuck) Albrandt ’71 is managing broker/owner in a real estate partnership, Starbuck Realty Group, in Colorado. The company specializes in residential, investment, and relocation in the Denver Metro region.

Lauren Strnad March 1, 2012

Lauren Strnad ’06, of St. Louis, MO, is engaged to marry Matthew Reynolds, MD, Ph.D., on September 14, 2012. Lauren is an Occupational Therapist, currently completing a doctorate and will graduate in May 2012 from Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine. Matthew is a Neurosurgeon in residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital.

Sandy Miller (MM '82) Radvanyi March 1, 2012

Sandy Miller (MM ’82) Radvanyi, Artistic Director and Clown-Doctor “Dr. Merry Kay!”) at Fools for Health in Windsor, Ontario attended the first international medical clown conference: Dream Doctors Conference 2011 in Jerusalem, hosted by the Magi Foundation and Israel’s Dream Doctors (clown-doctors) in October 2011. The conference included presentations and workshops by many of the world’s foremost leaders and researchers in medical clowning as well as Israeli medical doctors and medical clowns. 250 medical clowns and administrators from 22 medical clown programs throughout the world attended. The next conference will take place in Brazil 2013. Fools for Health is a registered Canadian charity that fosters wellness and improves quality of life for patients, residents, their families, and the professionals serving them, by integrating the latest research on humor and arts into health care delivery.

Rita Kohn March 1, 2012

Former WGLTers Paul Irwin and Rita Kohn [1968] caught up with each other in Indianapolis on 29 February. Irwin, now a host with Hoosier Broadcasting Corp., interviewed Kohn about her newest book, ” Full Steam Ahead: Reflection on the Impact of the First Steamboat on the Ohio River 1811-2011″ [published by Indiana Historical Society Press, 20]. This led to talking about Normal and Illinois State founder Jesse Fell who came down the Ohio on a steamboat around l828, studied law in Ohio and moved to central Illinois in l83l. We recalled Ben Paxton and other good memories.

I am anxious to visit Hancock Stadium after the renovations are finished. My father, Wilbur Hoffman, and my brother, Gene Hoffman, have their pictures on the walls in the building the last time I was there. I am hoping they will still be hanging again. Our family has a long history with Illinois State Normal University and all the memories that go with remembering when everything was “normal” in the town of Normal.

Sue Cosenza Larson March 8, 2012

Sue Cosenza Larson(’75) received her doctorate in Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University. She is currently teaching in the masters and doctoral programs in literacy at Judson University in Elgin, Illinois. Her dissertation focused on adolescent literacy and motivation, and her study received recognition by the International Reading Association for outstanding research.
